Fun with Science in Ms. Dohertys 4th Class
In 4th class, we are learning about solids, liquids and gases. We completed the ‘Fizzy Balloon’ experiment to show how mixing a solid with a liquid can create a gas.

The Ancient Egyptians
Here are some of our 4th class pupils displaying their fantastic projects that they completed on ‘The Ancient Egyptians’. We enjoyed travelling back in history to learn about what life was like in ancient Egypt.

Fire Safety Week
Our pupils enjoyed a visit from the Dublin Fire Brigade during fire safety week. The children were lucky enough to get the opportunity to learn about all the equipment inside the fire truck and even got the chance to use the water hose! Thank you to the wonderful firemen who took time to visit us. Also a big congratulations to the winners of our Fire safety poster competition!

Science Week Fun in Ms. Brennan’s 4th Class
We had great fun this week for Science Week. We did lots of experiments and completed many fun STEM activities.
We caused a chemical reaction by pouring Mentos into a bottle of Coke, creating an explosion.
We dissolved Skittles using warm water. The warm water caused the sugar and food colouring to dissolve which created a rainbow of colours.
We also created a moving car using a motor and electricity circuits.

Upcoming School Closure
St. Malachys will be closed on the 12th of December to facilitate a staff in-service day.
Bee Bots in Room 4
We had great fun using the Bee Bots this week in Room 4. We programmed the Bee Bots using different sequences to make them move forward, backward, right and left.
We have been working on fractions in Maths and once we had solved the answers, we coded the Bee-Bot to move to the correct answer.
We also created different tracks using lots of turns and we then programmed the Bee-Bot to complete the track by solving the sequence.

Spreading Christmas Cheer
In Ms. Doherty’s 4th Class we took part in the carepack.ie initiative where we made Christmas cards for residents in a care home in Dublin. Today we visited the post office to post our letters. We wish everyone a very merry Christmas!!

Our Christmas Newsletter
Here is a copy of our Christmas Newsletter. Thanks to all our teachers for putting together some lovely pieces of work from our wonderful children. They have worked so hard this year and we are very proud of all their achievements.
Happy Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
See you all on Monday, January 8th.
Christmas Fun in Room 4
Room 4 had a lot of fun on their last day of school before the Christmas holidays. They have worked so hard this term and earned themselves a treat which was a lovely hot chocolate party to get us all in the Christmas spirit.
We also had great fun during the Christmas Raffle. Everyone was delighted with their prizes. Thanks to Paula and all our staff for organizing a great raffle.
Happy Christmas from all in Ms. Brennan’s Room 4.
