Government advice on non-essential travel overseas
Government policy, which is based on official public health advice, continues to advise against non-essential travel overseas for everyone.
It is a requirement for anyone coming into Ireland, from locations other than those with a rating of ‘normal precautions’ (“green”), to restrict their movements for 14 days, and this includes school staff, parents and children or other students coming from abroad to attend school in Ireland. Restricting your movements means staying indoors in one location and avoiding contact with other people and social situations as much as possible.
6th class confirmation
The 6th class of 2020 made their confirmation on Saturday 22nd of August. Thanks to all the staff who were involved in ensuring such a special day for the children, particularly under such exceptional circumstances.
Many thanks for the huge effort made by Ms. Hamill and Ms. Mc Nulty. Thanks to Ms. Burke for arranging the confirmation hymns.
Thank you to Fr. Paddy and the parish team who made it possible for all the children to be confirmed together and to make their final day together as pupils in St. Malachy’s so memorable.
Consent form for remote learning through Seesaw
Dear Parents:
This school year our class will be using Seesaw (http://seesaw.me), a secure online journal where students can document and reflect on what they are learning in class. Your child will be able to add the things we work on (including photos, videos, worksheets, drawings and voice recordings) to their Seesaw journal and we can share them privately with you and other family members to view and comment on throughout the school year.
In order for your child to use Seesaw, the app needs your child’s name in order to be able to associate work like their photos, videos or voice recordings with their account. Seesaw only uses this information to provide the service and doesn’t advertise in Seesaw, create profiles of students, or share or sell your child’s personal information or journal content. You can read more about their strong privacy promises here: https://web.seesaw.me/privacy.
Under an EU law called the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), in order for your child to use Seesaw, the school must get your consent. For more information on GDPR, please visit https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/law-topic/data-protection/reform/rights-citizens.
hope that your child will enjoy using Seesaw to document and share their learning this year. Please sign below and return this permission slip so that your child can use Seesaw.
Parental Consent form for SEESAW online learning
You will receive an email with an electronic consent form. There is no need to return the paper form.

Retirement of Ms. Mc Grath, Ms. Mc Cormack, Ms. Burke
With a nearly combined 120 years service in the school of St Malachys we have been lucky to have three such stalwarts.
Their commitment to the school is illuminated in that all travelled long distances to get to Finglas South each morning.
As well as the current group of the children they have taught many parents, Aunties Uncles, cousins ,friends and even some Grandparents.
Their names are synonymous with St Malachys.
As a staff we have lost three of the most finest colleagues and three of the most finest of people.
Enjoy your retirement ladies you have certainly earned it.
