National ‘Active SCHOOL Week’ takes place every year and is a really enjoyable part of the school year for many children. This year, because of COVID-19, it is not possible for this to go ahead so we are inviting the families of our school to participate in the ‘Active HOME Week‘ challenge instead.
The aim of the Active Home initiative is to motivate young people to keep active at home by trying out NEW activities, taking on CHALLENGES and having FUN with family activities. To complete the challenge, the children need to find four different ways of being active every day, making sure that this adds up to 60 minutes, or more, of physical activity. All members of the family are encouraged, #Together, to take on the challenge.
The Irish Heart Foundation have created a resource for Active Home Week. We have used it to plan some activities for you this week. You might like to check out the document if you are looking for more activities. https://irishheart.ie/publications/lets-get-active-week-5/
Check out our Active Home schedule below for lots of ideas, videos and websites to try to get the whole family active for at least 60 minutes each day. Please feel free to pick and choose which activities you would like to try.
